“The association of polycythemia vera (PV) and pregnancy is rare. The estimated incidence ranges from 0.04 per
100,000 in women aged 20-34 years to 0.25 per 100,000 in those aged 35-39 years. The management of pregnant patient with PV may be problematic; less than 50 pregnancies have been reported so far in PV.
We hereby describe four pregnancies in a woman where PV was diagnosed in the fourth pregnancy. Aspirin and phlebotomy were used to maintain cell count in normal range and to avoid thrombotic complications.
Pregnancy in PV appears to be associated with significantly better outcome with tailor-made management for achieving good hematocrit control, low-dose aspirin and good maternal and fetal surveillance.”
“A series of well-defined different chain lengths polymers, which contain the organometallic 1,3-dichloro-tetra-n-butyl-distannoxane PXD101 core in the main chain, was obtained in one-pot via a novel 1,3-dichloro-tetra-n-butyl-distannoxane (complex A)/azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) initiating system used in reverse atom transfer radical polymerization
of styrene in different concentrations. The introduction of organotin complex A was supported by H-1-NMR, C-13-NMR, and the Inductive Coupled Plasma Emission Spectrometer analysis of the organotin-containing polymer. Moreover, the mechanism of polymerization was investigated by changing the ratio of complex A to AIBN. It was concluded that the complex A not only acted as an important part of the initiator system but also introduced the functional organometallic group into the polymer chain.
