“Processible composites of emeraldine salt form of polyaniline (PANI) with polyacrylic acid (PAA) are synthesized and studied for their structural, electrical, mechanical, thermal, and electrochemical
properties. The processible conducting composites of various weight percentage from 20 wt % to 90 wt % (of PANI) have been prepared by mixing the PANI and PAA under vigorous stirring and sonication conditions. Self-standing films of electroactive homogeneous composites are obtained by solution casting method. A significant improvement in processibility, crystallinity, and thermal stability is observed in the composites; however, the electrical conductivity decreased remarkably as the percentage of PANI is decreased in the composites. The 60 wt % PANI-PAA composite BKM120 showed crystalline structural property with orthorhombic crystal system and cell parameters as a = 5.93 angstrom, b = 7.57 angstrom, and c = 10.11 angstrom. The 60 wt % PANI-PAA composite also showed better thermal stability and highest capacitance HM781-36B amongst all the composites and used as an active material for development of electrochemical capacitors
(parallel plate assembly). The processible composites based electrochemical capacitors using 0.5 M NaClO(4)-Acetonitril electrolyte showed super capacitance with ease in fabrication and cost effectiveness in comparison to other similar materials based capacitors. “Background: High incidence rates of breast cancer (BC) emphasize the need to address health-related quality of life (QoL) in this population. The aim of this study was to evaluate the QoL, symptom prevalence
and management, functional ability, and quality of care in Lebanese women with BC at a tertiary health care facility.
Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive survey targeting Lebanese adults with cancer and using a combination of four instruments: European Organization for Research and treatment of Cancer-Quality of Life Questionnaire, Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale; Barthel NU7441 chemical structure Index; Needs at End of life Screening Tool, and a demographic/clinical characteristics section. 89 breast cancer patients participated in the study; data was collected from 2009 to 2010. Descriptive analysis in addition to independent sample t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson r correlation were used for data analysis.
Results: The most prevalent symptoms were feeling nervous, feeling sad, lack of energy, and pain; symptom management was inadequate; high scores were reported on functional ability, medical care, spirituality, and relationships. Younger, single, and better educated participants who were diagnosed for less than 30 months, had no metastasis, and paid less than $450 dollars per month on medical expenses showed better global health status/QoL.
